Second- Hand Treasures

This dress was purchased last year for a mere $14 at a local thrift shop and I wore it to a friend’s wedding. I love how it flows…and it closely reminds me of a Chloe dress I remember seeing. I cannot get enough of the layers of chiffon and its soft pink, feminine shape. I am not usually a fan of ruffles but they really seemed to work for this. My hair had to be in keeping with the romantic flair of the ensemble.

I find when it comes to wedding guest style, it’s hardly ever worth spending an arm and a leg on something you wear for a few short hours — it makes sense if you are the bride, but not a mere attendee for the happy couples special day.

Every wedding I have attended for the past few years (at my age, there has been a lot of them!) it has been a goal of mine to wear something original and elegant that makes a statement but costs less than a pair of blue jeans from American Eagle. By the way I actually feel that a great pair of nice-fitting jeans are worth investing in more!

What’s my secret? The entire year, whether I have a fancy event to attend or not I keep an eye out in the dress sections of my local thrift stores. When I find one that I love I buy it, knowing that at some point there will be a place to show it off — and I won’t be left last minute at the mercy of what the mall has to offer.
