This month marks one year for my blog! I cannot believe all the changes that have happened in such a short time. I have had the privilege of working with so many amazing individuals and brands.
Prior to starting this blog in connection with my Fashion Illustration business, I was on the beauty panel as a regular contributor for Toronto Beauty Reviews – founded by Elaine Atkins. Writing for Elaine taught me quite a bit about the blogging world and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to glean so much knowledge from her! I still contribute on occasion and encourage you to also check out her lifestyle blog detailing her mommy adventures here. As a side note, our sons both have the exact same birthday – one year apart! What are the odds?
When I decided to start something of my own I remember writing down all my plans, right down to the visual layout into a notebook. My website was already established and had been for about 4 years but it was not updated weekly and was more of a landing page for those looking to browse my portfolio and such. I wanted it to be a place where viewers could return to! A chic, creative and positive space where I could share my aesthetic and thoughts on some of my passions.
I was so excited – and although I had long been resisting the idea, I knew that finally the time was right and so were my reasons for writing.
Here I am a year later – still blogging (and loving it) along with starting the new journey of motherhood. Now that I am beginning my maternity leave you will be seeing some of my posts being more baby-themed. I still will of course share fashion and decor updates – two things I am still very passionate about!
My illustrating has taken a short hiatus, to be resumed at a later date. Custom orders take a lot of concentration and energy. I only want to give my clients work I create that I know I poured a lot of focus into, and with a newborn (and lacking sleep) that is something I cannot guarantee right now! I will on the other hand still be taking bookings for live illustrating.
Ok – got to go! I have a crying baby to attend to…
