Downsizing with My Fawn Design Mini Diaper Bag!

Every mom has her own style of parenting. For me – I would rather stress less and not sweat the small stuff than be on top of everything! For some mothers that may be a horrifying thought and to others it could sound deeply refreshing! I guess you could say I am this strange combination of both A and B type personalities. I like to get things done ASAP and be prepared, but I don’t like to overdo it to the point that it effects my peace so I just let things go when it comes to having a solution for everything vs. my well being.
After 5 months of lugging around a heavy, large bag full of baby everything I was ready to downsize! I am by no means writing off my beautiful Lily-Jade because I find that it is perfect for long day trips and overnight stays as it carries more than enough of all the things J needs in an amazing, washable organizer.
When it comes to short outings, let me introduce you to my Fawn Design Mini Diaper Bag in gray. First off – the gray against the gold toned hardware is gorgeous! A friend of mine has the regular size in the same colours and I simply needed to have one of my own!
This bag is perfect for quick trips (I’d say 3 hours or less) to the grocery store, bank, mall – you name it. It is so lightweight and easy to transport. Even though I could easily hook my other bag to my stroller, its sheer size always felt like it got in the way for me. My favourite way to wear my mini bag is as a backpack. I wore it grocery shopping last night and barely knew it was there. It did not hurt my shoulders or back and I knew it still carried all of the essentials!
I carefully curate what goes inside of it. I don’t want to be lacking the necessities or it would defeat the purpose entirely! Below is a list of what I include in my mini bag.
- 3 Diapers (The obvious must!)
- Changing Mat
- Pacifier (He chooses his fingers over one of these, but we use it to massage his gums when they hurt from teething!)
- Toy (Gotta love Sophie)
- Shea Butter (A natural substitute for diaper cream)
- Change of Clothes
- Hand Sanitizer (Just in case!)
- Cards (credit, debit, license, J’s health card etc)
- Car Keys
If the trip is going to be longer than 45 minutes I like to include food, in which case I put some wipes in a zip lock bag rather than carry the entire package and choose a smaller toy than Sophie to make room. My cards fit perfectly into one of the pockets and there is a hook for my keys inside the purse. I like to slide my phone into one of the side pouches!
I look forward to using this as my daily spring/summer bag as it takes up so little room and is also not overwhelming on my petite frame. When I am carrying both J and my other (large) bag it is so heavy and awkward!
I cannot wait to wear it with a breezy white tee and my favourite pair of high-waisted Levis. For me, it feels much more convenient to be a little less prepared all of the time. I was expecting parenthood to be messy anyway…(ha ha)
What about you? Would you be tempted to downsize to a smaller bag for short trips? Let me know in the comments below!
